Account Director, Healthcare

We are hiring on behalf of an integrated advertising agency, located in downtown Toronto. 

Our client is looking for a seasoned Director, Business to join on a one year, maternity leave contract.  

The Director, Business is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the account team and all client marketing activities related to that account. The ideal Director, Business possesses an extraordinary ability to build respectful and trusting relationships with clients, internal and external teams. They instill confidence with their business knowledge, strategic acumen and ability to troubleshoot, motivate and inspire. They are forward thinking, anticipate problems and propose solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Consistently push “big-idea” thinking, even when timing and budget may not allow
  • Tap into the wider resources and skills within the agency to develop compelling solutions to client issues
  • Bring fresh insights to the client’s business that will help them deliver a competitive advantage
  • Build and maintain senior relationships with agency teams and clients
  • Present concepts, strategies and/or plans with confidence, impact and persuasiveness
  • Work with the analytics team to identify opportunities to test and measure programs
  • Provide clear direction to the team on all projects
  • Conduct briefings for internal teams outlining specifics of projects, business objectives, client strategy, requirements, budget and schedules
  • Build and lead cross-functional teams that are able to anticipate and deliver solutions to meet the client’s requirements
Desired Skills and Expertise: 
  • 3-4 years experience in director role working on integrated (mass and interactive) accounts, with a focus on healthcare
  • Proven experience working with advertising clients to fully understand their business model and campaign objectives, and ability to develop strategies to meet their goals
  • Effective team management capabilities
  • Ability to build and foster client and internal relationships
  • Adept at uncovering new revenue opportunities and identifying risks
  • Strong strategic and problem-solving abilities
  • Polished verbal and written communication skills, with both internal colleagues and external clients
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize and focus, with a keen attention to detail
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint as well as Keynote
Must have:
  • Robust PAAB and ASC experience, all in the healthcare space
  • Strong strategic skills, especially applied to competitor/landscape analysis, brand voice development/maintenance
  • Experience dealing with loss of exclusivity and/or biosimilar competitor offerings
  • Holistic/integrated campaign experience leveraging numerous channels of communication, both print and digital
  • Experience managing a healthcare team/staff
  • Flexible and capable to handle evolving workflow with major busy periods around client meetings and product/campaign launches
  • Strong client relations and communication skills / quick ability to develop rapport
  • Great delegator but also willing to work on the more mundane day-to-day and project-related tasks – we are a small team with an all-hands-on-deck attitude
Ideally also:
  • Well-versed with Zinc and Veeva medical/regulatory review platforms
  • Has CRM experience
Pros (not required):
  • Bilingual or partially comfortable with French
  • Background in medical aesthetics and/or eye care products
